Andrew Santangelo recognized at 42nd AIAA Aerospace Sciences Meeting

Holland, Michigan, September 17, 2003 — sci_Zone is proud to announce that the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Michigan Section, lead by Andrew Santangelo, has been awarded First Place in the Medium Category for Public Policy and the Harry Staubs Precollege Outreach Award. This award will be presented at the 42nd AIAA Aerospace Sciences Meeting and Exhibit in Reno, Nevada on January 6, 2004.

The Public Policy Award is presented to leaders of in AIAA Sections "for stimulating public awareness of the needs and benefits of aerospace research and development, particularly on the part of government representatives, and for educating their members in the value of public policy activities." Mr. Santangelo has been and continues to be a leader in public policy on both the local and national level.

The Harry Staubs Precollege Outreach award is presented to the AIAA Section "that has developed and implemented an outstanding precollege (K-12) outreach program that provides quality educational resources for the Nation's K-12 teachers in the area of science, mathematics and technology." This award is in recognition of Mr. Santangelo's efforts in creating, developing the U.S. Aerospace Challenge Program, one of the nation's premier sport rocketry event for high school students.

Mr. Santangelo is a Lifetime Associate Fellow and Deputy Director of Public Policy of the Midwest Region for AIAA.
